Things to know before you arrive

  1. We follow a vegetarian diet 
  2. Complete segregation of the sexes is to be observed. Avoid all physical contact except in emergencies.
  3. Abstain from killing, stealing, committing any sexual activity, lying, gossiping, slandering, and using harsh language.
  4. A limited number of single-occupancy cabins (kutis) with electricity and plumbing are available. Please note we cannot guarantee your request for a particular kuti because we are limited to spaces available.
  5. If you have medical needs relating to your overnight accommodations, please let us know.

The Paramita International Buddhist Centre is not to be taken as a hotel or recreation centre. It is purely a place for serious meditation and Dhamma study.

What to bring

  • Flashlight
  • Alarm clock
  • Water bottle
  • Ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
  • Wet weather clothes and shoes in rainy season (April to September).
  • Personal meditation cushion if you prefer.
  • Light washing may be done in the kuti sinks. A washing machine is available for those staying more than a week. Please pack accordingly.

What not to bring

  • Illicit drugs and alcohol are strictly forbidden.
  • To gain maximum benefits from the retreat, do not bring radios, musical instruments, newspapers, magazines and secular books to the Centre.
  • Do not wear noisy jewelry, noise-making clothing (such as nylon, corduroy, etc.)
  • Do not wear clothing with distracting lettering.
  • Wear modest clothing at the Centre. Even in the warmest of weather, tank tops, low cut shirts and shorts, etc., are not acceptable. Shirts are required at all times.
  • Do not wear perfumes or deodorants with strong scents.
  • No pets are allowed at the Centre.
